Let’s Get Outside! A July Journey Event

Let’s Get Outside!
A Sad Isn’t Bad Journey Event
Tuesday, July 18 at McKennan Park
5:30-7 p.m.

The Journey is a program that brings together families who have already been through a session of our regular programming. When we come together quarterly for The Journey, we share a meal and meaningful activities as we honor the memory of our loved ones. The Journey allows us to reflect on the ways our lives have changed since experiencing the loss of a loved one.

Sad Isn’t Bad’s past participating families are invited to join us for an evening in the park with this relaxing Sad Isn’t Bad Journey event.  We will meet at the McKennan Park Picnic Shelter (400 E. 26th St, by the tennis courts) to enjoy a cookout meal, engage a family craft, and allow the kids some time to be free and explore outside!

Our family craft will help us reflect on the beauty of nature and how it can help provide comfort and healing as we process our grief.  Nature’s rhythms and cycles remind us of the transient nature of life, offering a glimmer of hope and renewal amidst the darkness of loss. Nature invites us to immerse ourselves in its presence, allowing us to reflect, heal, and gradually find acceptance as we navigate our grief journey.

Event Schedule:
5:30-6:30 Cookout meal (hot dogs, burgers, fruit, chips, and cookies) and playground/hangout time
6:30-7 Family craft and discussion in the picnic shelter

Registration for this event has now closed. (July 17, 2023)
